Livestock SA prepares for second AGM and wool forum

Results of Livestock SA’s board member elections will be announced this Friday at its Annual General Meeting and combined AWI South Australian Wool Producers Forum.

The AGM and forum will be held at University of Adelaide’s Roseworthy Campus, starting at 9.30am.

Livestock SA chief executive Deane Crabb says with nine nominations for five vacant board member positions, interest from producers in the work of Livestock SA continues to increase.

“This Friday will be Livestock SA’s second AGM. We’ve been established for just more than two years and have 2260 members from across the state,” he said.

“Votes will be counted this week for the nine nominations received from Jack England, Kingston, Roger Farley, Strathalbyn, Richard Halliday, Bordertown, Tom Hampton, Woodside, Alexander MacLachlan, Fleurieu Peninsula, Allan Piggott, Moorlands, Geoff Power, Orroroo, Greg Stevens, Snowtown, and Andy Withers, Naracoorte.

“Continuing on from the success of the sheepmeat forum last year, we have worked with AWI to present a forum specifically for wool producers this year.”

The forum is tipped to attract producers from the pastoral zone through to the South East.
Speakers include:

‐ Jimmy Jackson, AWI General Manager, Product Development and Commercialisation, speaking on ‘Encouraging more people in the world to wear wool’.

‐ Stephen Feighan, AWI Country Manager, Australia and New Zealand, who will give an update on The Woolmark Company’s Australian operations and marketing.

‐ Emily King, AWI Manager, Woolgrower Extension & Adoption, will give an overview of AWI’s research and development.

‐ Allan Wang, Quality Wool Export Manager, on major market trends overseas.

‐ Jo Hall, WoolProducers Australia CEO, on the organisation and its role.

‐ Allan Piggott, SA Sheep Industry Blueprint Chairman, an overview of how producers can be involved with the blueprint.
