Consultation now open for SA Sheep Industry Blueprint
Producers and industry stakeholders have the opportunity to provide their thoughts on the future of the state’s sheep industry to inform the new South Australian Sheep Industry Blueprint for the next decade.
Consultation for the Blueprint is now open through the SA Sheep Industry 2020-2030 Priority Survey and various industry stakeholder meetings.
The Blueprint is a strategy for sustainable industry growth which will ensure the South Australian sheep industry remains a vibrant and strong contributor to the state’s employment and economy.
Sheep and Cattle Industry Blueprint Working Group chair Jane Kellock said it is important producers and industry stakeholders take this opportunity to have a say on the industry’s future.
“We want to understand producer and industry stakeholder priorities during this consultation process to capture the needs and wants of the industry and align the new Blueprint to suit this,” she said.
“Participation from the whole value chain will be vital in order to continue the strong industry collaboration we have in South Australia.”
Mrs Kellock said the survey asks producers for their opinion on what they believe are the most important areas of focus for the future of the SA sheep industry.
“We need producers to be really open regarding the roadblocks and opportunities for the SA sheep industry moving forward.”
The SA Sheep Industry Blueprint was first launched in 2015 with the support of key sheep industry stakeholders including The University of Adelaide, Primary Industries and Regions SA, Michell Wool, JBS Australia, Thomas Foods International, Stock Journal, SA Livestock Consultants Group and a representative of stock agents.
“The original Blueprint identified key areas for the industry’s growth and development to help drive profitability, innovation, sustainability, and collaboration for the whole industry value chain,” Mrs Kellock said.
“It has increased industry communication and helped to guide and implement many projects which have been beneficial to the industry.”
